Anaz is 30!!

I just plain and simply can't believe where the time has gone.  when I first met my friend Julie her daughter was at school.

I've just made Julie this card for her - yes 30!!!  Where did the time go!

She wanted a sassy lady so I've used an image Lucy Loo Style I Love You from The East Wind

The image has been coloured with ProMarkers.  I've then cut it out to the shape of the easel card.

Two design paper (distressed) and the sentiment are form Lili of the Valley.  It's had to make an image like this special with flowers I find so I've added some bling with sequins and gems.

The 30 is made up from some black self adhesive glitter letter I got in Hobby Craft.

The sentiment was computer generated and cut out wit a Spellbinders die.

Here's a different angle and you can just see the blue gems and rhine stones I've used to finish the card off.

I've used her before and did her with fab red hair - this time I thought I'd have a go at pink hair.  I wanted it to REALLY pop so I chose to do her with black clothes.  Officially I think this has just become my new favourite colour combination!

If you don't know her this image is Lucy Loo Style I Love You from The East Wind.

Coloured with Copics I've just cut her out and mounted her onto papers from Lili of the Valley, Santoro and Joy Crafts.

I've just added a fuchsia sequin, some black and grey gems.

Turning leaves

Unky does some stunning images.  This one from The East Wind is Aurora Maple.  I couldn't wait to have a go at trying to colour turning leaves.  I'm so happy with how they turned out.

I've used Copics to colour the image and a black polychromos to add some depth and shading.

I wanted to keep this beautiful image as the main focus of the card so I've done a very simple design.  The design papers are from Lili of the Valley and Tim Holtz.  I've also used some black card stock to frame the image.

Embellishment are a grunge board door hinge coloured with the same Copics and some black and brown self adhesive gems.

Lyra's on Kraft

Been playing with my new pencils today, well to be honest I've had then a while and only just found time to have a go.

The Aurora Wings and The East Wind images have been printed on Kraft card and then I've used my Lyra polcolour pencils.

Unfortunately the toner didn't stick to the card very well, I think because it was so thick AND also the oil in the pencils seems to lift it slightly when colouring with them.

Anyway I was happy with the result, especially The East Wind image the white of the hair has come out great on the Kraft.

Lucy's on Fire

So here I am playing around with colour again.  This amazing image from Unky at The East Wind is Lucy Loo Close Up.  I wanted to try my hand at red hair again and this is the result.  A fabulous firey mane of red hair with and orangey sheen!

I'm afraid to say I went with my old faithful ProMarkers here, I've also used a black polychroms pencil for a bit of extra shading and  a white gel pen for the highlight in the eye.

The background was also produced with ProMarkers.  I definitely needed to keep her as the focus so I've mounted her onto black and orange card stock to bring out the colour.

The two design papers are from Lili of the Valley and UHK Gallery.

The only embellishment I've added are some small orange neon enamel dots.

Oh and the eye is probably the best I've done so far :D

Courage

This is the first time I've made a card as an inspiration for a person.  It didn't start out that way at all.

The image I've used is from the East Wind called Lucy Loo Ninja.  She's coloured in a combination of ProMarkers, Copics and black biro.  Cut out with a Spellbinders die I've then distressed the edges with antique linen from Tim Holtz to take some of the edge off the white.

The design papers are from Lili of the Valley and First Edition (the pale yellow marble looking one is actually a Christmas paper).  I've also used some black card stock.

Although a little difficult to see there are some gold self adhesive gems on the black spotted paper.

I was going to put a simple sentiment to do with birthday or just for you.  Then I had the idea to do it in Japanese symbols to match the image.  So off I went trawling the internet.

The two symbols have been sketched then I've used a black artists pen to fill them in.

Together they read "COURAGE" which I thought appropriate with the image. 

Now you see why it's kinda of an inspiration card :)

Memoirs of a Geisha Movie Theme

Memoirs of a Geisha is one of my favourite films.  I love all the imagery in it and the scene with the cherry blossoms is so beautiful.  I've had this image from The East Wind for ages but just hadn't got round to colouring it up.  It's one of Aurora but I can't actually find it on the Etsy listing at the moment.

Anyway.... she's been coloured with Copics - yes I'm finally getting round to using them :) AND she's in my favourite colour PINK!!

The image was cut out with a Spellbinders die and then antique linen distress in applied to make the white of the image fade inot the background design paper.

I've used design papers from Lili of the Valley and Prima Marketing which have been distressed.  The oriental pictures you can see in the back ground are form a clear stamp set from Lili of the Valley.  I've coloured some of the cherry blossom in a pink rather than just leave them as outline images and then around the image and cascaded down the card are some tiny paper flowers which I got in Hobby Craft.

Top of the world & 1st Anniversary

Today is a very special day for me.  A year ago today I took the plunge and created my blog.  This was the very first card I blogged.  Cute and not bad but no where near the standard I'm at today.

As you can see my colouring has improved immensely partly because of all those Make It Crafty Colour challenges I took part in, but mostly with practice, determination and a lot of  inspiration from a lot of talented people (mainly ladies but there are some guys out there!).

So to celebrate I'm sharing this card which was created while my hubby was watching Constantine.  I was asking if he could think of any films with angels in - and was like DUH!! What's on the TV!!

The image is Angel from The East Wind and she looks like she's at the top of a snowy mountain surveying the world below.  She's been coloured with Copics and I've added a touch of black polychromos pencil to her hair to enhance the silver look.

The speckled snow was created with some embossing enamel.

I've kept her as the main focus of the card and just used some distressed design papers from Lili of the Valley.  The only other embellishment is some pearl self adhesive gems.  I've left her without a sentiment so she can be customised.

Keeping watch

Aurora is such a cutie in this image Spring Butterfly from The East Wind.  We've a new sketch at Outlawz and this was the image I chose to colour with ProMarkers for my inspiration.

I decided to go for a purple and black theme with a splash of blue.  The blue being the butterfly and her eyes.  I've also added a touch of DecoArt glitter.

Design papers are from Our Daily Bread and Lili of the Valley.

And finally there are some self adhesive gems and some mixed purple flowers in a cascade which I got from Hobby Craft

Snow Queen

Whenever I start making Christmas cards I always end up singing Christmas songs and carols which drive my hubby round then bend ;)  I was singing walking in a winter wonderland to myself while making this one - it's the snow does it to me every time and yes I got raised eyebrows from hubby :)

The image (which made me think of the White Witch in The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe) is coloured with ProMarkers - Lucy Loo Snow Queen from The East Wind.

The image is amazing so I wanted to keep it as the main focus.  I've added some black card stock to frame it.

There's only one design paper with lots of snow flakes on it from Lili of the Valley.  I've used a couple of their tiny tags from a Christmas stamp set with snow flakes on, a few snow flakes stickers, some self adhesive gems and a sentiment cut out of a tag from a present last year.

I'm slowly coming round to the idea of making Christmas cards - but in July I'm still finding it little odd when it's so warm outside.

A Little Corner of Peace

This is my second mixed media canvas and I've remembered to take a few more pictures along the way to show you :)

It's a flat canvas from Hobby Craft measuring 20 x 26 cm.  After drawing the area to put the window, the first thing I did was to use my brick wall stencil by Tim Holtz and some modelling paste.  I added a few layers and added some texture sand paste to give it some character.  Both of these were by DecoArt.

Next step was to mix some acrylic paints, white with some colours and basically slap a layer on. Daler Rowney (white, light brown, brown and scarlet) and some Golden iridescent copper (fine).  the result from this can be seen i the next couple of pictures.

The resin picture frame I added was a Shabby Chic Treasure which I bought from Live and Love Crafts.  I then started to add some flowers and leaves into the window area.

Added to this just below the right of the window is my coloured image from The East Wind.  This image I've used is Aurora Siesta II which I coloured with Copics.  I fussy cut the image before gluing it to the canvas.

Once I'd done this and everything was dried I started to add the rest of the flowers.  These were all bought from The Ribbon Girl, Live and Love Crafts and Wild Orchid Crafts.

The last few touches is added were some silver dragonfly beads and a resin corner that went with the window from the Shabby Chic Treasures set.

A face of two halves

I started colouring this on my lunch break at work and showed a couple of pictures (first one) and (second one) to show stages of development on the Inky Pinkies Facebook as part of their what are you colouring today (Wednesday).  So having finished the actual card now it's time to share it again.

The image is Pink Rose and Shimmer Chiffon from The EastWind.  It's been coloured with a combination of ProMarkers and Copics.  I've then cut it out in a diamond shape with a Spellbinders die.  Distressed the edges with some Tim Holtz ink and added some Stampendous embossing enamel around the image adges.

The image makes me think of two halves so I tried to imply this in my actual back ground in the card.  The papers are from Lili of the Valley.  I've used some black card stock and then some black slef adhesive gems.

I've very much kept the image as the focus of the card.

June Sweet Pea Stamps Challenge - With Dies and/or Punches

Magical storm

When I first got this image (Lucy Loo - Fire Dance) from The East Wind my intention was to colour her in reds, oranges and yellows.  BUT I've been doing a lot on non pink cards lately and was having withdrawal ;)

I wanted to do something in pink a decided she could be creating magic rather than fire.  So I proceeded to colour her in pink ProMarkers.  The grey stormy atmosphere around her in done with grey Copics.

Once I'd coloured the image I mounted her onto some back card stock to frame the image.

I've used pink stripy paper from Lili of the Valley to make it look like she's i a room.  The paper with words on was intended as magical spells being spoken and is from Wild Rose Studio.

At the back of the card is some black card stock as I wanted to keep the pink and black theme.

The sentiment I/ added was also from Lili of the Valley from one of their art pads - coloured with pink ProMarker.

Once I'd done all this I added the glitter for bling to make the magic and some pink self adhesive gems to be the balls of magic at the end of her wand and being fired.  Here's a close up of the image for you.

Final touches to the card are some more pink self adhesive gems and some black ones.

Ahhhh..  feel much better now I've done something PINK :)

Snoozing......

Some of you may have seen this totally adorable piglet before.  Unky from The East Wind had a mini colour challenge and I just couldn't resist him and he's got to be my favourite stamp :)

Well it's taken me all this time to decide what to do with him after several comments from my hubby of "you've got to make him into a card - he's just too cute not to".

I cut the image Sleepy Piglet Dreaming Apple out with a Spellbinders die after colouring him with polychromos pencils.  The edges are then coloured with a vanilla ProMarkers to make it stand out from the white background.

I decided to do him in a dreamy abstract background, but only on part of the underlying white card stock.  Hopefully it looks like bubbles of piglet dreams :)

To finish the card off I added some black glitter letters to make the dream sentiment and some red card stock to make a border.

Sassy pirate girl

A swanky sassy little pirate girl would you mess with her having a sword like that ;)

I've been dying to colour this image up and make her into a card.  This one is Lucy Loo Pirates from The East Wind.  I've coloured her with ProMarkers, cut her our with a Spellbinders die then edged it with grey ProMarker.

I've kept the whole card mainly red, brown and black.  The design papers I've used are from Prima Marketing - Engraver for the background and Lili of the Valley Hearfelt and Father Knows Best.

I've added some Steampunk style metal charms to embellish the card as well adding some Tim Holtz grungeboard elements (coloured with ProMarker and distress ink).

Doodling

Soooo.... the latest challenge form The East Wind is to do some doodling.  Well I was torn when I produced this image whether to enter her into the Facebook Challenge or to add her into the Doodling challenge.  In the end I went for doodling.

Plenty of doodling on here.  For starters I've added some biro to her hair.  Then I kinda sketched out a background on my white stamping card (moon and tree which I then coloured with ProMarkers and Copics).  Once I'd coloured the tree I doodled with some biro on it.  Finally I doodled some bats onto the background.

OK so doodling finished.  The image I used is Lucy Loo Vampire Queen from The East Wind.  The greys/blacks I used were Copics.  the reds, blues, yellows and browns were ProMarkers.  I wanted her to have a very pale vampiric look so I've only used a touch of flesh tones.

I've mounted the actual image onto some black card stock to frame her.  the only other thing I've added are some black self adhesive gems.

Happy Sunday - I'm off back into work tomorrow for a rest.  Moving house is hard work!

Hip birthday

Found a little time for crafting this weekend but not as much as I wanted - part of it down to baking cakes for work because it was my birthday last week.  Who started this daft tradition!

Anyway...... This is one if found time to make - the image is Lucy Style I love You from The East Wind.  I've coloured the image in a combination of ProMarkers and Copics and a little bit of biro.  The image is mounted onto some black card stock to frame it.

I wanted to keep a punk theme so I kept the whole card red and black. The papers are from Lili of the Valley/Raspberry Road Designs Father Knows Best and Heartfelt.  I've also,used some dare red and black card stock.

The sentiment is from Lïli of the Valley Art Pad 8, I've added a splash of colour to it with a red ProMarker and black biro.  The final touch are some black self adhesive gems.

Flower for my love

So this is the sort of girly thing that's been distracting lately from making some more guy cards.  Unky from The East Wind has given a free digi away so I thought I'd have a go and show you my first take on it.

The image is called Rose the Flower. I've chosen to do it as a Valntines style card in pinks.  The image is cut out with a Spellbinders die and edged with pink ProMarker. Here's a close up of the image for you.

The papers are from Wild Rose Studio - Antique Library, Lili of the Valley/Raspberry Road Designs - Heartfelt and Joy Crafts - Romance.  All the papers have been distressed before mounting the rest of the embellishements and image.

Embellisments used are a lace fabric heart I've had in my stash so long I can't remember where I got it, some lace from Hobby Craft, flowers and leaves from Wild Orchid Crafts and Live and Love Crafts, some white self adhesive gems, two pink hearts from a tonic solutions punch. Here's a closer 

look at the flowers.

Forest friend

The weather here in Yorkshire has made me want to make something wintery.  I decided to do another distressing experiment using Aurora Reindeer from the East Wind.  She's coloured with ProMarkers and mounted onto some brown paper from Santoro Gorjuss Neutrals.

The layers underneath the image are made up from Santoro Gorjuss Neutrals, Lili of the Valley/Raspberry Road Designs - Heartfelt, Lili of the Valley Frosty Christmas and Joy Crafts Dance to Music.  Once all the layers were on the card I distressed them.

The added bead sprays and self adhesive gems in blue, brown and pearl were all from Hobby Craft.

The image is so beautiful from The East Wind that I didn't want to over embellish the card and hide her.
