Pumpkin Spice & Bats Are Nice

Sorry about the awful rhyme, it was all I could think of :D

Today is the start of October's challenge at SheepSki Designs.  I'm using Vlad & Mia and A Bit Batty for my night scene inspiration.  Click on the names above to take you to the shop, where you can get 10% off all images by quoting SKIANDREA10 at checkout.

We'll be closing the shop at the end of the year, just to give you advance warning.

The image has been coloured with Copics.

The night sky has had some embossing enamel sprinkled for the starry sky!

Just a single layered card to showcase the image.

Thanks for popping by for a look.  Hope to see you at the challenge.

Just Magic.....

This month we have no sponsor so it means I get to play with images I already have :D

I've got quite a few printed, as I was looking through I found this image called Violet Pixie from Sarah Burrier (sadly no longer available from what I can tell).  The shape of her wings made me thing about the sketch flipped on its side.

I coloured her with Copics and then had a chat with Sandra about my "way outness" for the sketch LOL!  We decided it was good because the sketch is the inspiration  and it gives a different perspective on what can be done.

So..... this is our sketch for the month which I've flipped on its side.  The wings are the banner and I've got her a moon as well for the circle.

I decided to fussy cut the image because I wasn't happy with a single layer card which is what I was going with at first.  I found the "moon" which is a geli plate print I did ages ago, using inks and a flower stencil (I so need to get my geli plate back out again).

As I was shuffling through papers I just sat her and the "moon" onto a sheet of black paper.  She was so striking on this I couldn't get any design papers that has the same effect.  So I made my own star background by scattering embossing enamel onto the black card.

I have selected on pice of green design paper from Lemoncraft to go with the greeny theme.  Finally I added a sentiment to the moon using stickers form Tim Holtz.

I so love how this came out :D

Thanks for popping by today, we hope to see you at the challenge.

The image has been coloured with Copics.  I've created a night sky for her using a sponge and some Copic cleaner.

A single layered card with some embossing enamel sprinkled for some extra magic.  I've added one tiny embellishment a tiny silver star.

Conversation

When I was young my uncle used to draw pictures of the man in the moon.  This is what's partly inspired my to draw this image :)

When I'd finished her, I kind of thought she looked like she was sitting there having a chat with him, hence the image name, Conversation.

If you want a chance to win her follow this link to the SheepSki Designs Facebook group here.  The games won't be open for long though....

Here's a close up of the image coloured with Copics.

I absolutely love colouring night sky's, they're one of my favourites but also very messy and I nearly always get covered in blue ink!

I've created a single layered card.  There's plenty of embossing enamel scattered for a starry background.

The only thing I've added is a tiny silver star charm.

Thanks for popping by for a look today

Moon light

Little love birds sitting int he moonlight on a snowy hill, of course you don't have to colour this image with a night sky background - that's just me I'm a little obsessed with them at the moment.

You can find this image Cool Couple in the shop here, where you can get 10% off by quoting SKIANDREA10 at checkout.

I'm showcasing the image today so I printed it large, then coloured with with Copics.  The magical starry background was created using a sponge and I've also added some embossing enamel.

Behind the image is a piece of silver glitter paper.  I've used a tiny silver start charm and a wooden sentiment from Hobby Craft.

Thanks for popping by for a look today

A Favourite Sketch

For December at Outlawz Sketch we're picking our favourite sketches.

So as I've said I've coloured this with Copics.  In the class Alyce takes you through creating a cloud stencil and how to apply this to your background.  I've also used a black polychromos pencil and a white gel pen.

I love being able to colour images like this and then showcase them.  The sketch I've chosen is perfect for this.

We're all picking our favourite sketches so you will have seven sketches to choose from this week.

I've used black card for framing.  My design paper is from Hobbycraft called Watercolour Dreams.  I've used some black card for the banners which were cut suing a Fantasy Die.  At the top of the banners are some purple gems.

I've skipped the middle section from the sketch and used black ric-rak ribbon down the sides of the image which I got from The Ribbon Girl.

The sentiment is from Make It Crafty and has been colour with Copics as well.

Hope you like my inspiration for today, thanks for stopping by and we hope to see you at the challenge

Moon Glow

I still had my blue Copic markers out after my colouring session the other night, so I decided to make a night scene using Over The Moon from All Dressed Up.

I've created some moon glow by adding a little Y000 to the pale blue area I'd coloured around the moon.

The background texturing has done done using a technique shown to me by Faye, here's her blog if you want to now more about her :)
The rest of the image was also coloured with Copics.  I've sprinkles some embossing enamel around the edges of the card as well as adding some stars with a white gel pen.

The two sentiments I got from Make It Crafty, they were also coloured with Copic.

Thanks for popping by and taking a look

Remember this

It's my turn to sponsor Outlawz Sketch, we'll be here using my images from SheepSki Designs all month :)
You can get 10% off my images in my shop by quoting SKIANDREA10 at checkout in my Etsy shop.

The image I'm using today is Selene.  She was one of the first image I drew.
I've coloured her with ProMarkers and I haven't used them for quite a while (just hoping they've not dried out while I've been experimenting with my Copics).

This is our sketch for this week

My design papers are from Lemoncraft and I've also used some back card.  This card on and around the image has been distressed.  Instead of a straight cut banner across the page I've used a Spellbinders die to cut wave shapes then layered them up.

The two mini flags were hand cut with a knife from UHK Gallery left over paper.

To finish off I've added a sentiment from Lili of the Valley (which I've coloured) and a fish sticker from Little B

Hope you like my inspiration for this week and we see you at the challenge

Vision turned reality

I'm sharing a very special creation with you tonight.  This one is a commission.  Ged who works with my hubby approached me with a commission in mind which I managed to turn into reality on a card for her.  We had quite a bit of communication so I could get this just perfect for her.

Her friend has a cat and she had this vision of a cats head (Suki) floating in the middle of a pumpkin vine with candy corn.  The rest was up to me to try come up with something spookily suitable.  Ged also didn't have any specific ideas about colours.  Although she started to go through some colour selections we could discuss, I showed her a pic of a first version of the card with the dark blue background.  She loved it so much she asked me to use it for the final card and then left all the colour choices up to me.
Suki being a pale ginger tabby is so adorably cute - I just hope I've done her justice.  She's actually paler in real life than I've coloured her here.  I'm still trying to get use to doing fine detail with Copics so I laid down some colour for the cats head and eyes then finished it off with polychromoc pencils.  The look I wanted was of fine soft fur and a glow in her eyes.

Everything else on the card has been coloured with Copics giving a vibrant look on the dark background.

Here you can see a close up of some of the pumpkin vine around the image.  I've added a few skulls into the mix, running some of the creepers through the skulls.

I the picture below you can see I've added a rata perfect addition to a dreamy cat's world.

The background, coloured with Copics have been given some texture.  An effect Faye showed Helen and I while on a recent Copics class with her.  I've used champagne (Faye will under stand that) and a sponge.  I've shown a particularly good section of it in the photo above.

To the top right of the cat is a crow, another perfect cat dream world addition.  I've achieved this look by adding the colour and then using a blender pen to bleach out some highlights on the feathers.

Cat's love the night and hunting so I decided to add in a glowing moon.  Across this I've added some wispy clouds and a few bats.  The glow of the moon if carried down towards the cat's face.

Finally here's the card as a whole.  Ged I'm very happy to say loves the card which will be passed onto her friend for Halloween.

This is only my second commission and I'm so happy with how it went.

Would love your feedback
