Embellish It!

So this is it my first creation as a DT member for Fussy and Fancy Fridays, this means I get to play with LOTS of lovely embellishments and create beautiful cards that I wouldn't normally make.
Thank you so much for having me ladies - I'm so looking forward to working with you all.

The theme for the next two weeks is EMBELLISH IT!  Dig out your gorgeous embellishments lovelies it's time to play :D

I had a bit of a practice making a bag (in pink) in a similar style before I actually made this.  This one is more vintage shabby chic and monochromatic in its looks than the bag I made, mainly due to the colours.  It's been made for my mother in law for her birthday.  I don't think she reads my blog so I think I'm ok posting this here!
The design papers are from Lemoncraft and have been distressed.
Around one of the layers I've used some tiny flat back pearl string for a border.
I've dug out some of my Dusty Attic wood chip to make the trellis for the flowers and then added two resin corners.

The flowers all white creams and yellows are from The Ribbon Girl and Noor Design.  I've used a magnolia, a large wild rose bud, small rose buds, a chrysanthemum, roses, lilies and gypsophila.

There are some small pieces of cream twine around the flowers.  To complete the flowering garden look I've added a few tiny silver dragonfly charms.

The Mum sentiment in made up from Sizzix letter and design paper scraps.  there have been mounted onto a wooden element from Scrapinic.  Added to the bottom of this are two tiny wooden hearts.

To finish off the vintage shabby look I've added a splash of gesso.

Here are a couple of close ups of the flowers at different angels so you can see them better.
I've used this layout for a couple of creations now and have found it perfect for creating cards like this.  If you'd like me to create a sketch layout let me know and I'll see what I can do to get one made up so you can use it too.

Hope you'll join us at Fussy and Fancy this fortnight

Teapot Flowers

Its the final week of our sponsorship by Bugaboo at Outlawz Sketch.  We've a lovely simple sketch for you today. BUT before I show you that I'll show you the image I've decided to use for this weeks inspiration.

It's called Flower TeaPot.  I've coloured the image with ProMarkers and added a little black polychroms pencil for extra depth in the shading.

The image was hand cut so the oval it inside the die cut design paper.  I've also edged it with a few pearls.  Oh and the actual die cut with distressed with Tim Holtz Vinage photo ink.

Here's the sketch for this week

My spring green design papers come from Studio Light and have been distressed.  I've used some lace that I've had in my stash for ages and finished that with a BIG daisy to keep with the them eof the image.

My other embellishments are some pearls and a wood chip butterfly.

Hope you like my inspiration fro today and see you at the challenge

MILs Shabby Bag

I've been sneaky and joined another DT LOL!!  Did you know? ;)

For this one I need LOTS of practice with embellishments, so I've got a bit of practice on making a gift bag for my mother in law.  This bag was plain white when I started out :D

The distressed design papers I've used are from Lemoncraft.  On the edges of these I've used some Vintage Photo ink from Tim Holtz to break up the layers.

Around the edge of the centre layer I've used some tiny flat back pearl string to create a border.

Inside this the the left are two resin corners.  By the way if anyone knows where you can get these from now in the UK please give me a shout I've been trying to find some more without success!

Ok onto the centre piece.  I've used some wood chip elements from Scrapienic.  These have also been treated with some vintage photo ink.  The mum has been cut out from some scraps of pink design paper with my Sizzix letter dies.  With this I've added a tiny wooden heart.

Onto the central panel I've added some flowers, twine and some tiny silver dragonfly charms.  To finish off I've tied some vintage seam binding in a double bow around the handle.

Hope my mother in law loves it!

Book of Little Monsters

Ok so that may seem backwards way round when you read it, but when you see my image it actually makes sense.

It's a Book of Little Monsters rather than a Little Book of Monsters.  My monsters are alive and coming out of the book, they cute and miniature :D

I've coloured up both versions of the image here so you can see what it looks like for some inspiration.  I'm only entering the first card into the challenges though :)

Coloured with Copics, ProMarkers and polychromos pencils I've tried to give the book an aged look.

The design papers for this card are from Studio Light.  I've also used some black and red card to break up the papers.

The edges of the image have been distressed, with with a Tonic solutions tool and with Vintage Photo ink from Tim Holtz.  Around the edges I've then doodles a border with pen.

To finish off I've added a sentiment from Scrapienic coloured with black Copic and then a few silver star charms for magic!

Here's the version with the boy.

Once I'd finished himI got out my Sizzix die letters to cut the work surprise into the card.  I've then mounted it onto some red card so the words pop and keeping in the the colour of the book.

The design paper is again from Studio Light.

I've again used the same inks to distress and doodled a border.  A few rhine stones and star charms finishing off the card for magic.

Hope you love my new image

Kamsin & a New Blog Challenge

Finally had a little time (mainly due to internet problems ha ha) to get this little beauty coloured up.

I created Kamsin for the Crafting Circle Artists Challenge for March.  The idea was to create an image where people could practice their colouring skills on a portrait etc.  I created Kamsin with lots of movement in her hair.

The first time I coloured her I did her with Ombre and although I liked the look I decided to try my original colour choice which I was a bit nervous of doing.  No idea why if you do it wrong just print it again and have another go!

She's been coloured with Copics to a certain extent.  I've yet to learn how to get this full effect using them.  I've also used polychromos pencils to finish off with.  Her hair is of firey colours red and orange and her eyes a luminous green.  You could colour her in with ordinary glasses but I've chosen to do her with sunglasses as a chic with a bit of attitude :)

I showed Katrina my colouring at work today who says its me!  I want a card with that for my birthday :D

I used some Sizzix letters to cut the sentiment into the card.  Underneath this is some black card and then some orange design paper from Joy Craft.

Finally I did some doodling with a pen to add a bit more of a border.

Hope you love my creation

Flowering Watering Can

Today it's my turn to share some inspiration for the new release images from All Dressed Up.

I've made it in the theme of the current Facebook challenge to give you some more inspiration.  The theme is 1-2-3 - Use 1 of something 2 of something and 3 of something.
I've used
1 image
2 colours
3 embellishments

This beautiful image Flowers for Mum is perfect for Mother's Day.  In the UK we have this on Sunday.  I've made this in colours that I know my mother in law will love.

I've coloured the image with ProMarkers and a little black polychromos pencil for extra depth in the shading.

I've doodled a border with a pen to frame the image.

Using one of my favourite layouts (having said that I've not used it for a while) I've used design papers from Maja Design and Joy Crafts.  All of these have been distressed.  My only embellishment are some pearl gems

Hope you love my inspiration for today.  You can join us at the Facebook Group challenge themed 1-2-3 or the Blog Challenge themed Anything Goes (as long as you use one of Wendy's images)

Crazy Red

We're being sponsored by Bugaboo at Outlawz Sketch this month.

The image I've chosen to use for my inspiration this week is called Birthday Balloons.

I've coloured the image with Copics and a little black polychromos pencil for extra depth in the shading.

Here's our sketch for this week

I've used design papers from Maja Design and a left over scrap of flowered paper (I'm a terrible hoarder and try not to throw any scraps away!)

I've also used some red card stock

My only embellishments are a Smile sentiment which is from Scrapienic and some black gems

Cherries

For my inspiration today I've used Cherry Duo.  It's a very new image and this is the first time I've had chance to make something with it myself.

I've coloured this image using ProMarkers, Copics and polychromos pencils.  Hoping to give the image some depth I've also tried to add a little cherry shine as well.

I've cut the image out using a Spellbinders die then another one to cut the black card to mount the image onto to frame it.

The design papers are from Lili of the Valley.  The ones in a strip in the middle have all been torn.

I've added a doodled border with a pen, added a couple of tiny wooden hearts and my final touch is an XOX sentiment cut from black card using Sizzix Thinlets.

Hope you like my inspiration for today and we see you at the new challenge

Red Robots Rule!!

I just had to share Bob with you :)  I've coloured him red and he just looks so cool!

I've used Copics and a little black polychromos pencil to add some extra depth to my shading.

Creating a CAS card I've just layered him onto some black and red card stock.

The sentiment was created at the time of printing.  I've also doodles a border in pen to frame the card.

The new Facebook challenge start tomorrow in my SheepSki Designs Facebook group.  You can enter cards with any of my images in there.  The winner can pick three images of choice from my shop and if there are 15 entries the top three each get an image :)

Daisy

This little cutie MouseBigFlower from Bugaboo is the image I've chosen for my Outlawz Sketch inspiration this week.

Bugaboo are sponsoring us for all of March :)

I've coloured this image with ProMarkers and a little black polychromos pencil.

Here's our sketch for this week.

I've used design paper from Joy Craft and dies from Spellbinders to put together this green, orange and white combination.

The only embellishments I've used are two green gems and a wood chip sentiment from Scrapienic

Hope to see you at the challenge

Country Cottage

I was asked to make a retirement card for a colleague at work.  She's been with the company for years and will be missed terribly.

In her spare time she runs a B&B so we decided it would be nice to make her a leaving card which included that.

Her actual B&B is very modern so we thought it wouldn't make an appropriate Retirement card.  I went off hunting for inspiration and this is what I've come up with.  A spring time country cottage with blossoms on the tree.

You can find Country Cottage in my Etsy shop and get it with 10% off by quoting code SKIANDREA10.  It comes with and without the B&B on the sign - just in case you don't want that bit :)
I've used Copics, ProMarkers and polychromos pencils to colour this image.  The Happy Retirement sentiment was created at the time of printing.

Creating a CAS style card I've layered it up with black card and green design paper from Lili of the Valley.  I've just added a few paper blossoms to give a little dimension.

Mind of his own

My first creation with Posh Puppy.  I had a game in my SheepSki Designs Facebook group for a chance to win him which finished yesterday - there were 7 lucky winners :)

I've coloured the image with Copics and polychromos pencils.  I then fussy cut the image out ready to go on the card.

I found a layout I liked and then spent ages looking for some papers.  Eventually I decided on some papers from Joy Crafts and First Edition.  I've also used some black card stock for the border between the two papers.  I layered it all up and then added the image and final embellishments.

Someone said to me the other day the dog looked like he was looking like he was posing for a camera shot.  I just think he has a mind of his own and decided to stop and sit and refuse to move LOL!  Hence my lovely lady looking over her shoulder trying to encourage him to move.

Anyway the camera bit made me think of this sentiment from Scrapiniec.  I coloured it with black Copic.

The foliage to the right of the card is some Dusty Attic chip board.

Hope you love my new design.

Kamsin

It was the hair thing, I love colouring hair so I decided to create an image with lots of it.

I could have just created a portrait but images of long hair blowing in the wind caught my attention when browsing for some inspiration.

I've also created Kamsin with glasses.  Of course if you want you can turn them into sunglasses!

Hopefully I'll get chance to colour her soon :)

Have fun & happy crafting!

This Way ----->

I chose Puppy Girlz as my inspiration for Outlawz Sketch challenge this week.  This image is from Bugaboo our sponsor for March.
The image was coloured with Copics and polychromos pencils.  After cutting it and mounting it onto some black card I doodled a stitched border.

This is our sketch for this week

I've flipped it on its side.  Apart from some more black card I've used papers from Santoro and a scrap of red flowered paper that was left lying around (can't remember who it is though - sorry!)

The sentiment is wood chip from Scrapiniec and coloured with Copic.

The ric rac ribbon was from Crafty Ribbons, I've used some black gems and two large chrysanthemums from Wild Orchid Crafts

Hope to see you at the challenge

Blue & Gold Wedding

Honoured to have been invited to be a guest designer at Crafting by Designs this month, where the them is anything goes.

For my inspiration I've chosen to make a wedding card using Wedding Couple from Aurora Wings
The image has been coloured with ProMarkers and polychromos pencils.  Making a CAS style card as this is going to be handed round work for signing I've just doodled a border with pen.

The image is mounted onto layers of black card stock and blue glitter paper.

The embellishments are a couple of sequins and some rhine stones to add some bling and a wood chip sentiment from Scapiniec coloured with blue ProMarker to match the image colour scheme.
