Butterfly girl

So it's time for some inspiration.  This is my make based on the current challenge but if you pop over to the Oddball Art blog you'll be able to see what fantastic creations my team mates have done.

AND don't forget you can use our DT codes to get you 10% off at check out at the Oddball Art Etsy Store - my code is DTANDREA10 :)

With it being so Spring like outside (NOT) here in the UK - I've decided to add a Spring feel to the card.  Instead of adding flowers this time I've added butterflies - tons f them :) The image I've used for this one is a recent release from Lizzy so you might not have seen this one before - image no. is 207.  I've coloured her with ProMarkers and cut the image out using a Spellbinders die.  I've also edged the image with ProMarker.  There are plenty of butterflies on this image but extra ones have been added by cutting out some blue card stock to match the butterflies I'd coloured in the image with a Tim Holtz die.  All the butterflies in the image and the die cut ones have had their wings edged with black biro.

The papers are all from Lili of the Valley.

The sentiment comes with the image and I've cut it out with a Spellbinders die and edged it with ProMarker and added an extra butterfly
The final touch to the card are some self adhesive gems.

Hope you like my inspiration and you come and join the fun

Date Night

Lizzy's Oddball Art images get my imagination going and as part of the DT we're encouraged to experiment to inspire you guys :)

I saw a couple of images and thought of an idea which I can now share with you - just had to get it printed, coloured, design the card, take photos then actually blog it - LOL!!

What I've done is combined two of Lizzy's images to make this scene

This first image is number 124.

I've combined it with image number 91

Here are the two together.  I've coloured the images with ProMarkers and Copics.  Added a little biro and black polychromos pencil.

Here's the finished card :)

The papers are from Lili of the Valley and I've also used some black card stock.

The sentiment I made.  I looked for some spooky writing on the web to use as a reference.  The one I picked was Zombie Holocaust from Evolutionary Designs.  I kind of tried to copy the writing by sketching the sign which I then coloured with ProMarker and biro.

The finishing touches to this one are some black self adhesive gems.

Hope I've inspired you to have a play around with Lizzy's images - and don't forget all us DT ladies have a code you can use to get 10% discount at checkout on Etsy - just quote DTANDREA10 for mine

Chillin in the garden

It's Wednesday and Sketch Challenge day at Outlawz :)

This is the last of DeeDee's images I have to share with you this month - this one is Lazy Day combined with flowers from Bloom and Grow.

All the images have been coloured with ProMarkers.  The flowers have been fussy cut then mounted over everything else to look like the bear is in a garden.

Design papers are from Santoro and Lili of the Valley.  The fancy edging has has been done with some scalloped scissors.

The sun has been added as an afterthought as my hubby said "if the bear is in the garden on a hammock he needs a sun".  This is part of a metal embellishment set I won on a challenge.

The final addition is a self adhesive gem :)

Little Star

Today is an exciting day - I get to tell you all that I'm now a Dressy Girl.  For those of you who don't know what that is, it means I'm now on the design team for All Dressed Up :)
I first met All Dressed Up images when I started on the design team for ABC Challenges back in January, their's was the first image I had to work with and I've been using them ever since because I thought they were so beautiful.

There are some absolutely gorgeous images that Wendy has produced so I hope to be bringing you some lovely cards to inspire you.

They're having a bit of a change round over at the blog and on Facebook too - so there are six of us newbies in total.  Check out the main blog page to see what my new teamies have produced.

For the introduction post I chose to work with A Star Is Born.

This is a close up of the image so you can see I've coloured it in pastel shades.  It's been cut out with a Spellbinders die then edged with pink ProMarker.  Here's the whole card.

I've done  bit of layering here - nothing new there then ;)

Design papers are from Wild Rose Studio and Joy Crafts.

The pink stars I've added  at the top left corner are Tim Holtz grunge board which I've coloured pink with a ProMarker.

The lace is from The Ribbon Girl and the flat pearl trim is from Wild Orchid Crafts.

The final touch some pearlised self adhesive gems.

Hope you love my first card for All Dressed Up.

The Big 50

It's my hubby's 50th birthday :)

I've made a card for him that some might think a little strange.  He loves the character DEATH (Terry Pratchett) and skulls.  So as you can see I've used a SmearedInk grim reaper image.  It's coloured with Copics then fussy cut so I could mount it onto the background I made up.

I've used some black card stock and mounted over it some design paper is from Tim Holtz Idea-ology.

The clock face is a Tim Holtz Sizzix one cut from black card stock.  Added to this are some black self adhesive gems, a 50 made from glitter numbers/letters from Hobbycraft and a birthday sentiment from Paperchase.

Can't wait to give it to him he's going to love it :)

I'm a purdy butterfly

Have you seen the latest challenge at Oddball Art to add a butterfly or dragonfly.  As I'd prepared my challenge inspiration card I thought I'd do one just for fun :)

This gorgeous butterfly girl image (No 164) is available from Etsy.  If you want this or any other item from Lizzy's shop you can get 10% discount by quoting my code DTANDREA10 at checkout.

For a change I'm going to describe all the background first.
I've used some red and black card stock and the red design paper is a Lemoncraft one.

The gold netting was saved from a bouquet of flowers I was given ages ago and I've only just used some :)

Flowers are all from Wild Orchid Crafts.  There are some tiny silver dragonfly beads which I found on Amazon.  The gold self adhesive gems and the 3D butterfly which is a Docrafts one were bought at Hobbycrafts.

So onto the actual image and here's a close up.

She's coloured with ProMarkers.  I decided to do her with firey wings which was the origination for all my colour scheme in this card.  Her hair was coloured with a combination of Copics and biro.  The image was cut out using a Spellbinders die and I've used some  vanilla ProMarker to edge it with.

Hope you like my just for fun card :)

Hello.....

DeeDee's are sponsoring us at the Wednesday Sketch Team over at Outlawz for May.  My card is made from Bot Buddies this week.

We're actually having a baby theme this month for our team mate Trina who is due to give birth this month.  There are three prizes on offer for us this month :)

For my inspiration I decided to made a robot planet card.  I've done them in the past but using pre-made stick on characters so it was a change to actually colour something up.  The bots are coloured with ProMarkers then fussy cut.

I've used papers from Lili of the Valley and some black card stock.  The planet is made from some Steampunk paper from Hot Off The Press.  I've also given it a planetary ring :)

To keep in the theme of the sketch I've made what looks like rails for two of the robots to be running on.

In the background you should be able to see some rhine stones to make up a starry night.

And finally the sentiment added is from Bot Buddies.

Got a bug?

Can you believe it six months have flown by and this is my last card as a DT member at Through The Craft Room Door.  I think Sandra is getting my replacement lined up as I type this :)

This latest challenge is sponsored by Doodle Pantry and the image I've picked to work with and give you some inspiration is Got a Bug.

Here's a closer look at the image for you

Colour my world :)

This is another of Lizzy's stamps released today with Whimsy Stamps, this one is The Artist.

I kept this one clean and simple - well fairly :)

The image has been coloured with ProMarkers then fussy cut.  I've mounted her onto a background of  white card over red card stock.  I've simply added a bit of shadow underneath the image and used the hearts which were cut out from The Graduate's banner on my previous post.

The sentiment comes as part of the stamp set.  I've simply drawn a heart around the sentiment and edged it with red ProMarker before fussy cutting it out.

The only other thing I've added are some black self adhesive gems.  Unfortunately I've not had time to make the third one up yet which is The Nurse but I'm sure you'll see her one another team members posting :)

Congratulations

Lizzy has a new stamp release today with Whimsy Stamps.  This one is The Graduate.  I've coloured her with ProMarkers and Copics.  She's been fussy cut then I've mounted her onto the card.

Design papers are from Lili of the Valley and I've also used some red card stock.

The heart banner is made with a LaLa Land Die.

The sentiments also come as part of the stamp set and I've cut those out using a Spellbinders die.

The finishing touch are some matching colour co-ordinated self adhesive gems.

This is one of three stamps released today - check out the Whimsy Shop if you're interested in rubber stamps rather than digis :)

Gentle breeze

Phew after the last card I needed a bit of CAS!  This absolutely stunning image is Kimono Spider Lily from Aurora Wings.  She makes me think she walking through a gentl breeze the way her kimono is flowing out behind her.

The image has been coloured with ProMarkers then cut it out and mounted it onto some black card stock.

I've used some more black card stock and some pale teal design paper from Lili of the Valley.  This was a bit of an accident as I put the image onto the paper when I'd done it and thought it seemed to bring out the colours in the image really well.

The only other things I've added are some black self adhesive gems and a sentiments form Lili of the Valley which was also coloured with ProMarkers

Blue Morpho's

I've learned something again today.  I coloured the butterflies in this image as blue with black edging, I knew I'd seen some like that but didn't know what they were called - so I looked it up and they're called Blue Morpho.

This is my second attempt at doing an easel card and I'm really pleased with how it came out.  Although at the time of creating it my hubby was killing himself laughing at me as it looked like my craft boxes had exploded all over the living room - LOL!!

This beautiful image I've used from Ching-Chou Kuik is called So Long Yesterday.  I've coloured her with ProMarkers in purple with blue butterflies and added a little lack polchromos to shade.  Once done cut the image out to match it to the shape of the easel card, then edged it with blue ProMarker.

Here''s a close up of the image so you can see better.

I cut a panel for the bottom portion of the card and also edged this with blue ProMarker with some blue fantasy background patches to match the top image.  At the left hand side of the card I've added some lace from the Ribbon Girl.

The flowers and leaves I've added are from Wild Orchid Crafts and Live & Love Crafts.  There also some tiny silver dragonflies and a silver butterfly beads.  The resin butterfly is from Live & Love Crafts.  The blue string and the for you sentiment are from Lemoncraft.

The final touch are some pearl self adhesive gems.

This was a very complicated card for me - this I need a bit of CAS now :)

Batty

Lizzy's not done many boy images yet - but I wanted to show you this one in case you've missed him.  We can maybe team up and request some more from her ;)

This image is number 163 from the Oddball Art Etsy store.  Remember if you want to get some of Lizzy's images you can get 10% discount using my code DTANDREA10 :)

So what have I done to him?  I've coloured him with ProMarkers and Copics.  I wanted to keep him as the main focus of the card so I've just mounted him onto some plain black card stock and added a few red and black self adhesive gems.

However, the back ground is filled with layers LOL!!  The design papers I've used are from Wild Rose Studio - Man About Town, some black card stock, Lili of the Valley/Raspberry Road Design - Father Knows Best and Lili of the Valley/Raspberry road Designs Heartfelt.

I've left the card blank without a sentiment as I tend to get lots of request to personalise cards for people.

Hope you love him as much as I do!

Beautiful butterflies

We've a new challenge at Oddball Art today - our theme for this challenge is add a butterfly of dragonfly.  Lizzy has so may gorgeous images that can be used with this theme i had a job deciding which one I wanted to use.  In the end I've gone for image 70.

If you want to browse Lizzy's shop I've a voucher code you can use DTANDREA10 that will get you 10% off anything in the Oddball Art Etsy store.  You just need to quote my code at check out :)

So first up here's a close up of the image I've done.  She's coloured with ProMarkers and Copics.  I've used a Spellbinders die top cut her out and then some Tim Holtz distress ink in Antique Linen.  Added to this is some embossing enamel around the left side of the image.

Onto the card itself now.  I've layered red and black card stock and then one design paper from Joy Crafts - Back in Time.  I've double cut the butterfly die edge with red and black card stock before layering it and mounting it onto the card.

The brown butterflies at the right of the card are actually fussy cut from some Tim Holtz Idea-ology Collage Paper.

Behind the image is some black lace trim.

At the bottom right of the image I've added some black roses and stamen.  Final touches and a brass decorative corner and some black self adhesive gems.

J is for Jewels

It's the 15th which means it's a new challenge with us over at the ABC Challenge.  The theme for the next two weeks is J is for Jewels.  We're sponsored by All Dressed Up and The Ribbon Girl for this one.

Wendy kindly gave us two gorgeous images to work with and I picked this one Looking Gorgeous.  The hair is coloured with Copics and a touch of biro.  For the rest of the image I've used ProMarkers.
Added to the image are some rhine stones over the necklace Wendy has drawn.  I've also added a few around in her hair.  This has definitely added some bling to the image for the "jewels" theme :) I've done a close up so you can see better.

I've mounted the image onto some black card stock to frame it.  The heart design paper is from one of Lili of the Valley's paper stacks.  There's also some red card stock.
The red enamelled hearts were from The Glitter Pot and I'd actually bought them for using on Valentines cards :)

The organza rose trim can be bought from The Ribbon Girl and the pearl trim was from Wild Orchid Crafts.

For Dad

It's Wednesday which means it's new sketch time at Outlaws Challenges!  This month we're sponsored by DeeDee's Digi Designs.

We're having a special this month.  Trina our co-DT is due to have her baby this month so we're having a special draw for anyone who enters the sketch challenges with baby cards :)

Father's Day is fast approaching so I thought I'd give you a bit of inspiration for that using Not a Tie.  I've coloured the image with Copics and ProMarkers and used some back card stock to frame it.

I've only used one design paper from Lili of the Valley for this card with some more card stock.

The tie banner is part of the Not a Tie set and I've fussy cut it out.  The sentiment was created from some letter beads.

We'd love to see what you can do with our sketch :)

Boho butterflies

Have you seen this stunning image from All Dressed Up - it's called Festival Lily.  I decided she needed to have blond hair and some lovely bright colours.  I've done this using ProMarkers, here's a close up for you.
Once coloured I cut the image out with a Spellbinders die.

Design papers fare rom Lili of the Valley and Santoro Gorjuss in colours to match the image.  There's a sentiment from a Lili of the Valley art pad which I've also coloured with matching ProMarkers.

The final touches to the card are some self adhesive gems in blue and green.

Baby month at Outlawz

We're having a baby month on the sketch team at Outlawz for May.  Of course we won' t be all making baby cards all the time but you'll see a few :)  That's because Trina is due to have her baby soon!

The month of May is sponsored by DeeDee's Designs.  the image I've used here is Baby Blessings.  It's actually a boy set but I've done it in pink ProMarkers.  The image has been cut out with a Spellbinders die and edged with pink ProMarker.

Design papers are for Santoro Gorjuss and Lili of the Valley.  The lace was purchased from Hobby Craft.

I've added some tiny hand and feet and the pink crystal flower from a Dress It Up buttons pack.

The tiny silver dragon fly beads I found on Amazon.

So this is my take of the sketch for this week - now lets see what you can come up with :)

Box of chocs?

I though for a change I'd do something other than people.  So I've decided to do a lovely box of chocolates instead.  The stamp is from Lili of the Valley and is simple called Chocolate Box.  I've used proMarkers to colour it, cut it out with a spellbinders die and then used some purple and pink distress inks from Tim Holtz.

Design papers are all from Lili of the Valley, as is the sentiment (from one of their art pads).

I wanted to keep this card simple so all I've added to it are some self adhesive gems in pearlised white and purple.

Zombies have feelings too....

This creepy cute zombie girl from Oddball Art just loves her teddy.  The image is number 46 from Oddball Art.  You can get this and other items in Lizzy's shop with a discount if you quote my DT code DTAndrea10 at checkout :)

I decided to do a monochromatic card for this with a pop of red.  The image is coloured using Copic greys and ProMarker reds and the mouse is actually done in a very pale brown.  She's been cut out with a Spellbinders die.  I've used the same die to cut some black card stock and taped the two together so it looks as though there's a shadow.  Here's a close up of the image for you.

Design papers are from Santoro's Gorjuss, Tim Holtz, First Edition and Prima Marketing and some red card stock.

The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley and I've added a touch of red to it.

I've also added some tiny black self adhesive gems and a red enamelled heart which I bought at The Glitter Pot earlier this year for Valentines.

I don't often go to the dark side but I sometimes sneak one in ;)
