Patty's Party - Tutorial

So on first looking - she doesn't look much, she's a pretty party girl, but the pain i went through to achieve this!!  Tried it my own way for a while nothing I did worked.  So I HAD to investigate how people did it.
Once you know how it's easy - but be warned the heating the candle is bloomin hot (burnt my hand doing this video)

Apart from burning my hand, creating the video was a huge learning curve and it's the most scary thing I've done!  Also finding the software to edit, doing the acual editing, disconnecting the sound because when I was recoding it we were watching Star Trek and my hubby was asking me if I wanted a coffee etc. also finding some music that I could use was a task - you have to make sure you find some you can use with all the copyright laws.

Anyway to create this I used a stamp from the Lizzy Love collection on Whimsy.  The link's here to the store.  I used tissue paper as in stuff you can wrap presents up in and just some ordinary black stamping ink.  Oh and of course ProMarkers to colour her with.

Enjoy the show - Andrea x

A basket full of love

Noooo... today is out last challenge over at the Outlawz Sketch team with Rick St Dennis!  I'm a huge fan and will definitely be using his images in future :)
All the links to his sites can be found on the Outlawz Sketch team challenge for October 2015.

For my last bit of inspiration I'm sharing my version of Basket of Love.  I've coloured this with ProMarkers in pale shades apart from the red so it draws your eye in (hopefully!)  It's been cut out with a Spellbinders die, inked with antique linen and distressed.

I've added in a few flowers to compliment the image.  The daisy's and hortensias are from Kort and Godt available at Live and Love Crafts

The design papers from Lili of the Valley have had some antique linen ink from Tim Holtz applied to the edges and then distressed.  The lace (which is actually a piece cut in half) has been hanging around in my stash for a while.  Those tiny pearl strips have also been in my stash for a long time I tend to use the larger ones more often.

The sentiment which has been coloured with ProMakers is a Lili of the Valley on from one of their art pads.

Finally onto the gold organza ribbon and pearl gems - these were also from my stash.

This is your last chance to be in with a chance to win some Rick St Dennis images!

Season's changed

We're half way through the current blog challenge at Oddball Art - Fall is in the Air.  Usually at the half way point I give some general inspiration but today I though I'd stay with the current theme.

The image I've chosen to use is no 7 (mainly because she's wearing a hoody and I thought this appropriate for a season change).  You can get her off Etsy and while I'm mentioning that I'll give you my discount code so you can get yourself 10% off at checkout by quoting DTANDREA10 :)

The image has been coloured with ProMarkers, I've then fussy cut her to mount her onto my art journal page.  I've also used several leaves from several different images to make leaves for the autumn theme.  they've also been coloured with ProMarkers and fussy cut (took a while I can tell you)

Onto my background.  I've used three different stencils and some modelling clay.  The first you can see behind the image.

The second is one of my favourites, a brick wall effect.

The third stencil is actually some flower branches but I've used these as a leafy branch instead.

Once I'd got the modelling clay on and let it dry I slapped on some gesso, then mixed my brown autumn colours for the background, wall and leaves using acrylics.

I've then added a little DecoArt metallic paint in two different colours to add some interest.  The Dark colour around the brick was done with some acrylics too.

Once dried (yawn - I'm so impatient) I mounted my figure and leaves as though she were going for a walk crunching through autumn leaves.  I then scattered some above as though the leaves were still falling from the trees.

Finally I asked my hubby what came to mind when I mentioned autumn and I hand wrote some word, doddled round them then cut them out and mounted them onto my art journal page.

Hope you like my bit of "different" inspiration

Early Seasons Greetings

I couldn't resist the other day treating myself to a few All Dressed Up Images off Etsy :)

This is the first I've done - called 3 Little Christmas Girls.  I've added a computer generated sentiment to the image before I printed it off.

I decided to go all traditional with this one and do reds and greens using ProMarkers.
I've kept the design very simple to showcase the image so all I've used is some black card stock and  couple of design papers from Lili of the Valley.

I've finished the card off with some black self adhesive gems, a red enamel heart and a new find - snowtex.

Thanks for taking a look - hope to see you over at All Dressed Up challenge - Anything Goes - and the Facebook challenge - Summer Colours.

I'm having a little snooze here

Welcome to our fourth Rick St Dennis inspiration at Outlawz Sketch Team!

I've used a couple of very cute guys this time :)  The images are Happy Dream and Yet another Nap.  I've coloured them using ProMarkers, cut themout with a Spellbinders die then distressed them with black soot Tim Holtz distress ink.

The sketch has been flipped so I could make it look like some trees / vines were growing up the wall.

To do this I've used some chip board and coloured it with ProMarkers as well.  There's also a different bit of coloured chip board at the bottom right to give them impression of a plant growing.

The design paper is from Lemon Craft and I've also used some pain blue paper to give the card a border.  And not forgetting the tiny blue self adhesive gems to finish off with

We'd love for you to join us to be in with a chance to win some fantastic Risk St Dennis images

Courage

This is the first time I've made a card as an inspiration for a person.  It didn't start out that way at all.

The image I've used is from the East Wind called Lucy Loo Ninja.  She's coloured in a combination of ProMarkers, Copics and black biro.  Cut out with a Spellbinders die I've then distressed the edges with antique linen from Tim Holtz to take some of the edge off the white.

The design papers are from Lili of the Valley and First Edition (the pale yellow marble looking one is actually a Christmas paper).  I've also used some black card stock.
Although a little difficult to see there are some gold self adhesive gems on the black spotted paper.

I was going to put a simple sentiment to do with birthday or just for you.  Then I had the idea to do it in Japanese symbols to match the image.  So off I went trawling the internet.

The two symbols have been sketched then I've used a black artists pen to fill them in.
Together they read "COURAGE" which I thought appropriate with the image.
Now you see why it's kinda of an inspiration card :)

Follow Yours Dreams in Sepia

When this new image came out at the beginning of September I had a few ideas for it.  So here I am today presenting my second idea for it.

I've coloured the image in sepia tones using ProMarkers and even sketched in some clouds in the same colours in the background.  I think you can just see them in this close up.
The die is definitely a fancy one from Spellbinders - it took a while to extract the card from the die :D
Once I'd managed to do that I distressed it with Antique Linen distress ink from Tim Holtz.

The design papers which have been distressed then layered up are from Santoro Gorjuss and Lili of the Valley.  The sentiment is from one of their art pads and I've added some sepia tones to this too.

Finishing touches to this one are two different types of lace.  The one at the bottom of my card has been in my stash for a while.  The top lace can be found at Live and Love Crafts along with the white clay hearts.

Before I go I just need to remind you we have two different challenges going on at All Dressed Up.  he challenge on the blog is Anything Goes with an All Dressed Up image.  The second is Summer Colours on the All Dressed Up Facebook Group.

Hope you like my second bit of inspiration with this image

FALLing leaves

What could be cuter than two little hedgehogs playing in the autumn leaves.  This beautiful little image is from Di's Digi Designs - called Henrys Windfall.

The image has been coloured with ProMarkers and a little black polychromos pencil to add some extra shading.

The image has been cut out with a Spellbinders die and mounted onto some red card stock.
Background design papers are form Lili of the Valley.  the extra leaves and acorns were cut out of some of their paper too.  I've also used some more red card stock as the image worked better with plain card than more patterned design paper.

To finish off I've added some self adhesive gems, some red ribbon edged with gold and a brass mushroom charm

It's going to look like this soon here in the UK the leaves are starting to turn

Shabby mono anniversary

It's a while since I used this stamp and instead of using the whole thing I decided to crop it to see what effect it would have.  The stamp if you don't know it is from Stamping Bella - Emily and Ryan Under Umbrella.

I've used proMarkers to colour the image, cut it out with a Spellbinders die, distressed the edges then used two lots of Tim Holtz in distress ink.  The look I wanted was of an old style sepia photo.

The design papers are form Lili of the Valley and First Edition.  All have been distressed before layering up.  The sentiment, from a Lili of the Valley art pad, has also been distressed and I've coloured it with the same ProMarkers as the image.

Final additions, all keeping in with the monochromatic colour scheme are some pearlised self adhesive gems, some tiny wooden hearts, a resin corner, a flower stem charm and a love charm.

Carnival Clown

I'm a little late updating my post for this one - you can blame all the overtime I've been doing :)

We've a new challenge today at Outlawz Sketch team - we're being sponsored by Rick St Dennis with his fab images.  Hope this one isn't too scary.....

The one I've chosen for my inspiration card is Laughing Bills Carnival.  I printed it pretty big as I wanted to be able to colour all the detail.  I've used ProMarkers to do this with.  I've also done my ow background with some "fluffy" clouds.

The image was then hand cut because I'd not got a die big enough :)
The edges have been distressed with Tim Holtz black soot distress ink.

For the design paper I ended up picking some flowery number from Lili of the Valley.  When I think of clowns I always think of those stupid fake ones they use with water in them.  To make it slightly more creepy I've also distressed this with black soot.  At the back the whole think is mounted onto some black card stock.
Added extras are some dark blue spotty ribbon, and some twine.  A hot air balloon dress it up button.  A brass skull charm and some black enamel flowers.

Hope on over to the main page to see the amazing inspiration done by the rest of the team :)

Trick or treat!

We've a new challenge starting today at All Dressed Up on the blog.  Seen as it's autumn and getting towards Halloween I though I'd give you a little inspiration for one of Wendy's adorable images.  He's called All Dressed Up for Mummy.

He's been coloured with ProMarkers, cut out with a Spellbinders die, had the edges distressed and then I've added some embossing enamel from Stampendous.
The design papers are from Lost and Fund - Halloween and Lili of the Valley.  I've also used a bit of orange card stock.

The trick or treat sentiment is hand written.

There are some black and gold self adhesive gems and some orange enamel dots.  I've also added a brass charm with a spider and web on just to finish it off :)

Don't forget we have new themed challenges on our All Dressed Up Facebook page now!

Autumns colours

Or new blog challenge at Oddball Art Fall is in the Air

Instead of just using autumn leaves on my inspiration card I've decided to use autumn colours and have used this photo as my inspiration.  I love the colours autumn brings with the clashing combination of oranges/reds and greens

So this was what I used when colouring image 122 with Copics.  She's called Becky by the way and is a zombie - but a very cute one.

Once coloured I cut her out then distressed the edges with Tim Holtz Peeled Paint distress ink.
Added to the image are some orange enamel dots which I bought in Hobbycraft.

Apart from design papers from Santoro Gorjuss I've used some black and orange card stock.
And to finish her off some glitter letters to make up the sentiment and some black self adhesive gems.

Before I go I'd just like to tell you about the freebies on our Oddball Art Facebook group.  Every Friday Lizzy gives something away - you just have to join the group to get them :D

R is for Recipe

Mid month and time for another challenge at The ABC Challenge R is for Recipe.  Boy this years going fast!

We're sponsored this time by All Dressed Up.  Wendy has some amazingly cute images check her out on Etsy.  Wendy is very generous and offers some freebies on her challenge blog.

For my recipe combination I've chosen to use Ribbons / Die Cuts/Punches / Blue

The image you can see above is All Dressed Up for Christmas.  I've coloured it with ProMakers in blue of course :)  It's been cut out with a Spellbinders die and then the edges distressed with antique linen ink from Tim Holtz.

I've decided to use a fancy shaped card for this one which is always a challenge as I have to cut all the design papers out by hand to match my base.  The design papers I've chosen to use are all from Lili of the Valley.  Some of these have also been distressed with the same ink.

Ok onto all the other bits
Tree's - LaLa Land Die (with antique linen distressed edges)
Snowtex
Silky crush white ribbon and white pom pom trim from The Ribbon Girl.
Love heart clip from Live and Love Crafts
Blue star and self adhesive gems blue and pearlised.

Phew - lot to this one!

Ideas, stars and dreams

I was supposed to be my second spot in September as a guest designer with The Crazy Challenge.  Unfortunately the card I sent hasn't appeared on their blog and there are no other Guest DT cards so I'm not quite sure what happened there but I'm going to post it anyway!

The card was created from a photo for inspiration.

I got my thinking cap on.  Light bulbs to me mean ideas.  The brightly coloured stars made me think of a rainbow of colours.  Which got me thinking of dreams and clouds etc. etc.  Whilst I had all this in mind I went browsing for some inspiration.

I was so luck to find just the image I wanted.  It's number 183 from Oddball Art.  The main colours that stood out for me in the light bulb photo were the yellow and pink and I chose the green to go with it as well so the card wasn't inundated with colour.

This was done with ProMarkers.  I've then cut the image out with a Spellbinders die and used the same three colours around the edge of the image.
There are a couple of pink hearts added to the image as well which a got from Paperchase.

The design papers are a mixture from Santoro Gorjuss, Lili of the Valley and come pale gold card from Hobbycraft.

The sentiment is from a Lili of the Valley art pad.  I've used the three ProMarkers to colour an abstract pattern onto the sentiment.

Finally I added to pearlised self adhesive gems.

Candy Cane

I just can't resist this little cute bat.  He's called Marvin from Marina Neira and this particular image is Marvin with Candy Cane.

I've used ProMarkers to colour him and then finished him off with a little black polychromos pencil to add extra shading.

He's been cut out with a Spellbinders die and then distressed and had antique linen and peeled paint distress inks applied.

Design papers are from Lili of the Valley, they've also been distressed.

The sentiment was something I picked up from Hobbycraft last year and never got round to using, the wooden candy cane was also from there.

I've added some ribbon from my stash which was bought from Lili of the Valley when they did their little bags of ribbons.

The snowflake die is a Memory Box one and the black self adhesive gems are from my crafty stash.

So what do you think, isn't he the cutest little guy :D

Well loved....

Browsing through Lizzy's Oddball Art images the other day looking for some images for my DT inspiration cards an idea formulated :) This card's not been made for a challenge but rather I've shared an idea of what can be done with Lizzy's images.  You can see it all unfolding below.

OK lets PLAY :D
All the images have had words added before I printed them off to give an indication of age.  I've coloured them with ProMarkers, mounted them onto some brown design paper from Lily of the Valley and added some back self adhesive gems at the corners.

I've then kept the card a CAS style just using some more plain brown and blue design papers.  The sentiment is computer generated and I've added some pearlised brown self adhesive gems.

I hung image 117 as though it was falling off the wall just to give the card a little character.
Perfect for your kids who love their teddies to death - I know I did :)

Santa Muerte

Another challenge to myself.  I've had Copics for a bit now and not used them very much.  I though it time I tested myself and did a "slightly" more challenging image.

The one I chose to use is Sante Muerte Figure Only from Aurora Wings.

So yes i used Copics!!  But I cheated slightly by using a black polychromos pencil, in particular to add some extra shading and to tone down the colours on the scythe so the yellow shone out light a highlight.

I've also created a bit of a blurry abstract background behind her to make her stand out more.

It's taken me a few days in my lunch breaks at work to get her finished.

After all that work I had to keep her CAS - didn't want anything to distract away from her so all I've used is some red card stock
