Butterfly Magic

Today I'm sharing a very simply styled card to showcase this image Butterfly Magic.  I'd seen photos of huge moths and butterflies and thought it might be fun to try and recreate something like this in a digi image.

You can find Butterfly Magic in my Etsy shop - check out the bottom of my post for a 20% discount code off images in my shop

I've coloured the image here with Copics, ProMarkers and polychromos pencils.  I wanted the butterfly to pop so I've used some bright oranges and reds.

Once I'd finished the image I cut it large and distressed the edges with ink from Tim Holtz (black soot) and a Tonic solutions tool.  The image has been mounted onto some distressed black card.

Added to this just to add a little more interest are a few rhine stones, two silver dragonfly beads and I've also stencilled the word beauty in black soot ink onto the card.

This has been created as part of the inspiration for the Passionate Paper Creations sponsorship event for this week :D

Dog Walker

Good morning :D
This is the last week with our sponsor All Dressed Up over at Outlawz Sketch this month

For my inspiration for you today I've used one of Wendy's newer images Spring Walks.
The image has been coloured with ProMarkers, Copics and polychromos pencils.  The edges of the image were distressed with antique linen and vintage photo from Tim Holtz.
For the oval framing I've drawn round the inside of a Spellbinders die and hand cut the image.  I've then used the die to cut some Kraft and mounted the image on top.

Here's our sketch for today

I've used design paper from 13arts and some left over scraps from cutting papers down to size.  I've also used some more Kraft to frame the whole thing.

I opted to leave out the ribbon from the image as I didn't want to cover it up.  Added to my strips of paper are some tiny white paper flowers which I bought in Hobby Craft.
The Life is Good sentiment is a Scrapiniec one which I've coloured in a similar shade to the design paper.

Hope you love my inspiration for today and we see you at the challenge.

Movement

If you've not seen this image before it's called Flamanco.  I originally did a water colour painting with this image (years ago) so when I started drawing again I recreated it from the painting.

This is one of my images you can find in my Etsy shop that shows movement in the image.  I just love the flow of material in this dress!  Its also a good one to pratice folds, so far I've coloured it two different ways.  If you've joined me from the Passionate Paper Creations and Friends Facebook group you'll have a special discount code to get you 20% off my images - check their banner ;)

There will be lots of inspiration from my fab design team ladies and also Rhea's lovely ladies. Also make sure you check out their blog this week where there will be some more inspiration

So how did I create this..........
I've used ProMarkers, Copics and polychromos pencils to colour the image with.  I cut a large square around the image then doodled a border.

Design papers I've used for this card are from Lili of the Valley and 13arts.  I've also used some black card.

The DANCE sentiment was cut out from the same purple design paper using a die cut set from Sizzi.

My final touch for this card was to use one sequin and several rhine stones.

Hope you like my first inspiration for this week

As well as providing inspiration I'm going to enter this into some challenges detailed below to hopefully advertise the sponsorship event this week :)

1920's Elegance

Here I am today sharing with you my new image Grace, she's kinda based on a 1920's flapper.

Grace has been coloured with ProMarkers and I've also used a black polychromos pencil to add depth to the shading to the very back of the dress.

I have some label dies and I used a large one of these to cut her out with.  I then chopped the sides off to give it a straight rather than curved look.  I found I didn't have any suitable inks to distress the edges so I used ProMarker around the edges instead.

I wanted to make an Art Deco style card so this was a bit fiddly with lots of strips of left over design papers.

The design papers are from Maja Design and Lemoncraft.  I chose ones that were similar colour to the image and the background design paper.  The left over strips were cut down to the same size to go at either side of the image.  To get the curve at the top and bottom I used the curve of the image to draw a line on the strips and then cut them with scissors.  Lined all up together gives them an Art Deco look :)

To finish off I added a BIRTHDAY sentiment in Art Deco style.  The original sentiment from Scrapienic says happy birthday I just cut it down and then coloured it with brown ProMarker.  I then added a few bits of bling with rhine stones.

Thanks for taking a look today

Just a small bouquet

Hello lovely people, today being Friday is the new challenge at Fussy & Fancy Fridays.  It's my teams turn this time with a theme of Flowers.

I suppose I could have used one of my images for this BUT it gave me a perfect excuse for playing with al my beautiful flower embellies :D

This is a close up of the bouquet, you can see a combination of paper and fabric flowers making up this floral display.  The flowers were bought from the Ribbon Girl, Noor Design and Wild Orchid Crafts.
The teal ribbon I've had in my stash for ages and is from Santoro.  I tied a very messy double bow (hee hee) you can't see how bad it was because its disguised by the flowers.  I really need to get something to help me with these or learn how to do them properly by hand!

You can also see by the picture above I've used some pearl gems an doodled a border.

This is a shot from the side so you can see the 3D effect of the flowers.
Behind the flowers you can see some laser cut woodchip frames.  I got these from Scrap and Craft, they have some beautiful ones in stock at the moment.

And finally my distressed design papers are from Lemoncraft.

Hope you like my inspiration for today and we see you at the challenge

Duplicity - skulls roses and butterflies

Yes I know it's not the normal glam / cutie / flowers etc. but if you look in my shop there are a couple of skulls around.  This image is called Duplicity and you can find it in my shop on Etsy.

Today is my hubby's birthday.  It's been a while since I've drawn a skull for him.  I don't want to get too predictable and every time we (him and me) have an event to celebrate I do it with skulls.  That's why there's been JD & Coke and then Otters :D

So I thought he was overdue.  I'd seen some artwork where people had drawn skulls which were made up of other objects, hidden by objects or they form part of it - so...... I decided to see if I could draw something along those lines.  Drawing this I obviously HAD to be sneaky.  I'm not sure if he's caught glimpses of it but hopefully he's been too busy with work and his playstation LOL!!
I've coloured it mainly monochrom with only the rose in colour to add maximum impact.  A rose for my love on his birthday.  I've used Copics and polychromos pencils to do this with.

There are no sentiments with this I just wanted the art work to have maximum impact.  I've distressed the edges and mounted it onto some black card.

He is definitely going to love this one :D

Happy Birthday Allen!

Just for You

This beautiful little image called For You is available from All Dressed Up.  They're our sponsors at the Outlawz Sketch Team for May.

I've used ProMarkers and a little black polychormos pencil for this one.  The edges of the image have been distressed with peeled paint ink from Tim Holtz.
Here's our sketch for this week

I decided to keep with a general green theme using design papers from Maya Design and Joy Crafts.  Instead of using a die cut for the square shape I decided to go with some flat back pearl trim.

The butterfly I left off (mainly because I forgot it was on the sketch LOL!! Don't tell Sandra :)

My ribbon is a double layer of flowered organza from Crafty Ribbons.

Hope you love my inspiration for the sketch challenge for this week.  See you at the challenge

Travel

Today is the second part of the new release inspiration by the Dressy Girls from All Dressed Up.

I'm playing with Bon Voyage today.  I've coloured the image with ProMarkers and polychoromos pencils.

Originally I was going to do a CAS card then I was then playing around with my die cuts for another card and I had this idea to do a luggage label with the car on.  Not satisfied with the strength of the card for a label I changed my mind and incorporated it onto a card.

The die cut I used was Marianne Designs Craftables one.  I also used some Sizzix letters to cut the TRAVEL out.  I backed Travel with black card so it would stand out.  the edges of the label were distressed with vintage photo and black soot ink to give it a grungy feel.  I've used some vintage seam binding and string to tie some tiny Steampunk goggles to the top (they made me thing of sunglasses) appropriate for the travel theme.

I then built the backing layers up using blue card, design papers from Prima Marketing Engraver pack.  I cut out one of the maps as a circle.
Final toppings were some more metal elements a clock face a Tim Holtz Destiny badge and a wooden chip board adventure bottle from Scrapienic.

Hope you love my inspiration for this fantastic new image by Wendy

Lady in Red

I didn't intend to do this image in red originally I was going to do pale wispy pinks or purples. I was colouring something else red and I got to wondering how she's look red.

I've had her coloured for a while and decided I'd use her to create some inspiration for today's new Facebook challenge in my group SheepSki Designs.

She's been coloured with Copics.  the streaky background was also created with Copics.  I've added two different colour embossing enamels to her before distressing the edges and mounting it onto some red card to frame.

Using a shaped card which I've backed with red card I've drawn, cut and distressed the same shape in a smaller version to create a border.  The design paper is from Lemoncraft.

Behind the image you can see some some lace which I got from Noor Design.  The wood chipboard cherry blossom spray I've overlaid the image with is from Mismasz.

To finish a few pearl gems.

Happy crafting

Bee-ing Vintage

So I finally got my Bee n Blossom coloured image onto a card :D

I coloured the image with Copics and polychromos pencils.  I even had a go at doing see-through wings and I'm very happy with how they came out.

Once I'd coloured the image I then set about dotting grey Copic around the image.  After that - I'm still not quite sure where I got the idea from I grabbed my word stencil that I'd used recently on my Pink Flutterby canvas.

I used some walnut stain from Tim Holtz and proceeded to  dab it through using a sponge pad (I couldn't ind my tool so I got extremely inky!!)

The edges were then distressed with a combination of vintage photo and black soot ink from Tim Holtz.

I then stalled.  I loved what I done so much I didn't want to ruin it by cutting it up.

Finally I made a decision.  I kept the whole of the image, added some Kraft for a border and a couple of tiny brass antique corners.

It's turned out a beautiful vintage looking card - one of my favourites so far I think :D

Happy crafting everyone.
Don't forget I now have a blog challenge (the theme this time is Anything Goes) you can enter with anyone's images they don't have to be mine.  I also have a Facebook challenges but for these you do have to use my images.

Wedding Congrats

Here's a new image over at my shop.  I thought seen as the season is on us I'd create one or two digis especially for weddings.

Did you know I've got a challenge blog now - we're on Challenge 2 - the theme for this month is Anything Goes.  You don't have to use one of my images to enter but if you do and you're a winner or top three you get an extra image ;)

I've coloured the image with Copics, Pro-Markers and polychromos pencils.  Not only did I want beautiful pastels for the dress but rich depth for the guys suit.

The sentiment I created at the time of printing.
This is the first time I've done a complete single layer card with no borders or doodling.  A bit scary all that white space but I do like how it's turned out :)

I've added a few rhine stones and a couple of sequins - I was going for a classy elegant look to the card - hopefully I've achieved that

Thanks for taking a look today

Pink and teal

I'm definitely loving this colour combination.  I'll say what I've used in a bit.  First and most importantly this beautiful image has been design by Wendy Burns from All Dressed Up, our sponsors at Outlawz Sketch for this month.

This image has been coloured with ProMarkers and polychromos pencils.  The edges of the image has been distressed with Milled Lavender ink from Tim Holtz.

Here's our sketch for today

For my design I've used papers from Lemoncraft, 13arts and Lili of the Valley.  The banner at the top was cut using a La La Land Die.  Ive added a few pearly gems to this.

I've used on of the hearts from the banner to the top left of the image.

The fine organza ribbon was bought from Crafty Ribbons (with a hand tied bow) and I've added a WOC apple blossom.

Hope you love my inspiration today - hope to see you at the challenge

Wear Your Curves

I decided to give her a lovely red dress using Copics and polychromos pencils to colour the image.  I love the colour combination of red black and white.  You can get such a rich contrast, it can look classy or grungy - however you want to use it!

At the time of printing I created the sentiment "Today I'm wearing my CURVES...."

I've just used some black soot ink from Tim Holtz to distress the edges of the image and take the whiteness away to focus on the image.

The design paper is from 13arts, I've used to black card for framing and a few sequins and rhine stones to add some bling.

Hope you love my inspiration for today

Little Pink Flutterby

I have the honour of being a Guest Designer at Let's Craft and Create this month.  Their theme is to create your own background.

I had a little thing and then thought what an opportunity, I haven't created a mixed media canvas for a while.

Here's a little pic of the finished project, but I'll also show you some pictures along the way

First of all I took a blank 8" x 8" canvas and slapped on a layer of gesso (the canvas was a kind of browny Kraft colour when I started).

On top of this a added some modelling paste and used some stencils to add in some details.  The stencils I used were
Tim Holtz - Crackle, Bubble and Bricked
The Crafter's Wrokshop Mini Template for the text

Close up of a text & crackle section

Close up of a wall & bubble section

Once this was dried I coated it with another layer of gesso.

I then printed a coloured my Flutterby image which you can find in my Etsy shop here.  You can get this and any of my images with 10% off by quoting SKIANDREA10 at checkout.  I've coloured it with Copic and polychromos pencils.  Once coloured I fussy cut it ready to mount onto the finished canvas.

I got so carried away I forgot to take pictures along the way but I can tell you what I've used yo create this.  Some blue copic and a blender which I now need to clean LOL!!

The pinks are created using a DecoArt Magenta Mister and a mister filled with water (the ink allowed to drip down the page)

On the bricks I've added sections to the brick of DecoArt Sand Texture Paste and DecoArt Fluid Acrylic Inteference in Blue to add interest.

Here's a close up of the crackle dection to which I've added lashings of DecoArt crackle paste.  On the bubble stencil you can see I've added some Golden glass bead gel

Here's a close of of the section with the Interference Paint

Once the first layer had dried I added some more of the Magenta Mister and allowed it to drip down the canvas.

The window you can see here is part of a resin element from a Prima Shabby Chic set.  Under the window I've also added some Craft gauze for a bit of interest.

Here's a close up of the magenta mister dripped down the canvas.

And the section where the window is in close up

On top of this I've added some flowers and leaves from Wild Orchid Crafts and Noor Design (cherry blossom, magnolias, orchids and gypsophila.  This again is a close up of the finished canvas for you.

I've then taken a few close up shots so you can see more of the detail.

Heres the cherry blossoms and Flutterby.

The magnolias and gypsophila.

The window section.

Then a few angels photos so you can see the dimension created by the flowers.

Finally I had a yay! moment when I discovered that the canvas would actually fit into a deep picture frame so i could protect it.

Hope you love my inspiration for creating you own background.

If you want to ask me any questions about this you can find my in my Facebook group SheepSki Designs - click here or you can email me at sheepskidesigns@gmail.com
